Mere speech to God is not necessarily prayer.  Prayer involves devotion, trust, respect and a sense of dependence on the one to whom the prayer is directed.  The various Hebrew and Greek words relating to prayer convey such ideas as to ask, make request, petition, entreat, supplicate, plead, beseech, beg, implore favour, seek, inquire of, as was to praise, thank and bless.

The ‘Hearer of Prayer’ is clearly identified by the psalmist where David directed his thoughts to God found at PS. 5:1, 2:  ‘To my saying do give ear, O God; Do understand my sighing.  Do pay attention to the sound of my cry for help, O my King and my God, because to you I pray.’  In essence, the entire scriptural record testifies that God listens to our prayers.

Jesus is our Saviour.  He gave himself as a ransom for all (1 TIM. 2:1-8).  Ieshoua is the only Way of  reconciliation with God as he died for our sins.  Recognizing this channel of communication is of importance to all of us as as a perfect example of respect.  Jesus is without a doubt a perfect example of respect.  Yes he exemplified himself in his prayers to his Father as seen in JOHN 11:41:  ‘Now Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said:  ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me’.   Yes, Jesus is a vehicle or way to talk to God.

Is  it not encouraging to know that our prayers just do not vanish into thin air!  Remember:  God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.  Yes, pouring out our heart and talking to God is soothing for the soul.  The line of  communication is 24/7 – what a free privilege we have.  Remarkably, our prayers are heard by recognizing and appreciating its approach.
